We are ORCHYD
We support Families & Children with Disabilities
Our Past
ORCHYD was initially set up in 1971 when a collection of like-minded people from the Ruislip Christian Council and the charity Scope got together to organise and run a holiday for children with physical disabilities based in Ruislip, West London. Although a lot has changed in the last five decades - Scope are no longer involved, DBS checks are mandatory and we have our own minibuses - the core purpose is the same; to provide an amazing summer holiday for children with physical disabilities. In recent years, ORCHYD have expanded and have hosted several weekends, have a regular day trip scheme and have even taken a group to Disneyland Paris!
Our Present
Every year we run a summer residential holiday for children with physical disabilities. This holiday includes lots of exciting trips out and fun activities in our hall. These give our children some absolutely incredible, once in a lifetime experiences and give them a chance to make new friends and memories that will stick with them forever.
Our Mission
To provide an annual summer residential holiday available to children from all over the UK.
Up to a maximum of twenty children aged between 8-12 years old.
To offer day trips / residential weekends for groups of up to 8 children aged 7-15 years old
To provide funding grants where applications are in line with our charitable objects
“Kyle loves ORCHYD because he can be outside. We are delighted because we know that Kyle was having experiences with ORCHYD that we are unable to provide. ORCHYD is an amazing place and the children will have an amazing time at their summer residential holiday! The people are fantastic.”
